I will offer to pay for hopefully some basic support on a non booting server after power failure
If any one who can help with this issue is listening.

I have a storage server that has
1 boot drive
a zpool with some cache drives
some extra drives -- 15 total

After power failure I get to the server and the openindiana logo is in the bottom right of the screen, and the keyboard is hard locked the machine does not ping, I power cycle and immediately after the grub option is chosen, the machine locks up in the same fashion with the openindina logo in the bottom right, I tried modifying the grub options with a -s after the kernel but this did not help.

It is late thursday night Central US time. If someone could help me within 24 hours I would be happy to pay at least $100 or donate to their favorite project, as well as post the solution on this page.

I booted to a new openindiana cd and ran zpool import f rpool to and it imported - verified by zpool status

We have had solar panels for so long, that it is shameful that every single light in America is powered by any source other than solar. The problem is the cost. To power every light in your home with solar panels will, eventually, pay for itself. However, Americans don't stay in the same home long enough to personally reap the benefits of an expensive endeavor. Solar-heated water panels are relatively cheap and will supplement a relatively inexpensive commodity. More people use these panels for swimming pools and spas than for indoor use. Bear in mind that neither of these technologies are suitable for providing power for appliances that have heat coils or motors with moving parts. They simmply are not powerful enough.

In the early years of testing for global warming, ancient air in ice was tested, old meterological records were scrutinized and many theories were put forth, including (I remember vividly) the weather fluctuations in the 1950s were caused by the "commies!" Computer models built to explain dinosaur extinction from particulates in the air were modified to predict both nuclear winter and global warming. They aren't accurate. They are constantly being modified. We know that most of the weather extremes and by far most of the extinctions have occured prior to the emergence of man. We also know that the earth recovers, life continues. The worse thing we could do would be to have everyone on the planet living in the same way. However, we need to be good stewards of the earth's resouces and live in harmony as best we can. I don't think there are more than a handful of people world wide who advocate complete harmony with nature. That would mean living naked in a nest in a tree. Sorry. Not for me!
